As a Casual (On-Call) Behaviour Support Worker for our Special Needs therapeutic programs in North Vancouver, you will have the opportunity to be a part of a team that provides support, care, and mentorship to children/youth with autism and special needs in a therapeutic home setting. A variety of shifts are available, allowing you to work around school, family, or other obligations. Shift times are 7am-3pm, 3pm-11pm, 11pm-7am (awake overnight).

Other locations include: Richmond, Burnaby, New Westminster, Surrey, Delta, Langley, Abbotsford. It will be a plus if you can work in other cities, but not required.

Qualifications:  

  • Ability to meet our Relief/Casual Team Guidelines and Expectations which includes providing at least 2 shifts of availability on the weekends, availability on holidays, and for on-call shifts
  • High school diploma
  • Experience or knowledge of the Autism spectrum and/or other behavioural and mental disorders (or desire to learn)
  • Ability to pass a Criminal Record Check and Ministry of Children and Family Development consolidated check
  • Clear and concise written and verbal communication
  • Proof of COVID-19 double vaccination record
  • Valid Driver's License is an asset

A sample of what you’ll be doing (Full job description available here):

  • Building positive working relationships with the client, family, community members, and other professionals involved in the care team
  • Encouraging and modeling acceptable social standards and setting appropriate boundaries
  • Engaging in frequent interaction with clients, using appropriate means of communication
  • Facilitating recreational and/or educational activities
  • Driving youth to appointments, school, outings, etc. as needed
  • Performing household maintenance duties (preparing meals, cleaning, yard work, etc.), administering medication, and assisting clients with hygiene care as needed
  • Collaborating with the clinical team and providing input into assessments and care plans

Salary: $22.70-$23.25/hour + 4% vacation pay on each pay cheque
