Full and Part-Time Youth Workers - North Vancouver

As a Youth Care Worker at our youth therapeutic program located in North Vancouver, you will have the opportunity to be a part of a team that provides support, care, and mentorship to at-risk youth with complex mental health, behavioural challenges, and substance use. This is a specialized resource supporting youth on a short-term basis using Hollyburn's model of care and practices, to ensure youth's individual needs and supports are available to them within their community and cultural practices. The resource will often see several client intakes and discharges yearly.  This lines available are: 

  • 40 Hours/Week 3PM-11PM Sunday-Thursday
  • 32 Hours/Week 3PM-11PM Wednesday-Saturday

Qualifications:  

  • Post-secondary education in related field and/or equivalent experience working with at-risk youth
  • Minimum one year of experience working with at-risk youth with complex mental and behavioural challenges and substance use
  • Knowledge or experience working with Indigenous youth
  • Experience or knowledge of trauma-informed care
  • Ability to set strong boundaries and build appropriate rapport with youth
  • Clear and concise written and verbal communication
  • Valid BC Class 5 Driver's License
  • Ability to pass a Criminal Record Check and Ministry of Children and Family Development consolidated check (takes up to 6 weeks to process so please plan accordingly)
  • Proof of COVID-19 double vaccination record or exemption from the provincial health authority

A sample of what you’ll be doing:

  • Maintaining a safe and healthy environment in the home
  • Building positive working relationships with the youth, their families, community members, and other professionals (e.g. social workers, probation officers)
  • Facilitating recreational and/or educational activities
  • Performing outreach as needed
  • Performing household maintenance duties, preparing meals, administering medication
  • Attending school meetings and case conferences when required
  • Encouraging and modeling acceptable social standards and setting and maintaining appropriate limits
  • Collaborating with the clinical team and providing input into assessments and youth care plans

Salary: $22.70-$24.00/hour plus benefits
