As a Full-Time Behaviour Support Worker at our Texada Special Needs program in Delta, you will have the opportunity to be a part of a team that provides support, care, and mentorship to adults with ASD and special needs in a therapeutic home setting. The line is 40 hours/week, Tuesday to Saturday, 3pm-11pm shifts.

Qualifications: 

  • Post-secondary education in related field and/or equivalent experience working with adults with ASD and special needs
  • Minimum 1 year of experience working with adults with ASD and behavioural challenges
  • Ability to set and maintain firm boundaries with young adults
  • Knowledge of supportive strategies, needs, and risk assessment
  • BC Class 5 License Mandatory
  • Ability to swim required
  • Knowledge of therapeutic approaches
  • Effective de-escalation and crisis management skills
  • Clear and concise written and verbal communication
  • Current First Aid and CPR certificate
  • Current Non-Violent Crisis Intervention certification
  • Proof of COVID-19 vaccination (or approved exemption or accommodation from the Provincial Health Authority or Hollyburn)
  • Valid Driver's License is an asset

A sample of what you’ll be doing:

  • Maintaining a safe and healthy environment in the home
  • Building positive working relationships with the client, family, community members, and other professionals involved in the care team
  • Encouraging and modeling acceptable social standards and setting appropriate boundaries
  • Engaging in frequent interaction with clients, using appropriate means of communication
  • Facilitating recreational and/or educational activities
  • Attending school meetings and case conferences when required
  • Performing household maintenance duties, preparing meals, administering medication, and assisting clients with personal care as needed
  • Collaborating with the clinical team and providing input into assessments and care plans

Salary: $22.70-$24.00/hour plus benefits

Hollyburn Family Services is a multi-service agency that has been providing support to children, youth, adults and families in the Greater Vancouver region since 1990.
