As a Full-Time Behaviour Support Worker at our Texada Special Needs program in Delta, you will have the opportunity to be a part of a team that provides support, care, and mentorship to adults with ASD and special needs in a therapeutic home setting. The line is 40 hours/week, Tuesday to Saturday, 3pm-11pm shifts.
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary education in related field and/or equivalent experience working with adults with ASD and special needs
- Minimum 1 year of experience working with adults with ASD and behavioural challenges
- Ability to set and maintain firm boundaries with young adults
- Knowledge of supportive strategies, needs, and risk assessment
- BC Class 5 License Mandatory
- Ability to swim required
- Knowledge of therapeutic approaches
- Effective de-escalation and crisis management skills
- Clear and concise written and verbal communication
- Current First Aid and CPR certificate
- Current Non-Violent Crisis Intervention certification
- Proof of COVID-19 vaccination (or approved exemption or accommodation from the Provincial Health Authority or Hollyburn)
- Valid Driver's License is an asset
A sample of what you’ll be doing:
- Maintaining a safe and healthy environment in the home
- Building positive working relationships with the client, family, community members, and other professionals involved in the care team
- Encouraging and modeling acceptable social standards and setting appropriate boundaries
- Engaging in frequent interaction with clients, using appropriate means of communication
- Facilitating recreational and/or educational activities
- Attending school meetings and case conferences when required
- Performing household maintenance duties, preparing meals, administering medication, and assisting clients with personal care as needed
- Collaborating with the clinical team and providing input into assessments and care plans
Salary: $22.70-$24.00/hour plus benefits
